A Weekend Wedding In Lynchburg, Virginia

Nina and Charlie tied the knot this past weekend on Saturday January 26, 2008 in Lynchburg, Virginia. I was very blessed to have had the opportunity to be one of the wedding photographers to document this very special day for them. They are such a very special couple who were so much fun to work with during the engagement session and the wedding as well. Nina was so beautiful in her wedding dress and it seems like every photo I took of her was better then the one before. I wish them many happy years together and I am sure this will not be the last time we talk with each other…Have fun guys with your new life together and take care…

The Smaller Details Of The Wedding

One thing I need to work on more when I shoot a wedding is the smaller details that sometimes escapes the eye because of the bigger picture of whats going on. The close shots of wedding flowers, wedding dress, rings, dinner setup, cake and things like that. Most of these shots are taken with a shallow DOF (Distance Of Focus) leaving a very small area that is sharp and spreads out to a unfocused style which keeps the eye on one certain area of the photo and that would be the detail the photographer want to elaborate on. There is some neat stuff that can be done doing this sort of photography with  weddings and I will work more on this stuff on the next upcoming events I do. I have listed a photo below of what I think could be a Tiger Lilly (I could be wrong) which shows the detail on the Stamen, Anther and Filaments in focus and focus fades out on the Petals and Sepal which blends into the background. I also will be present this weekend in Lynchburg, Virginia for Nina and Charlie’s wedding and look forward to sharing the big day with both of them as they are a very fun couple to hang out with and this weekend will be no exception.

Madison’s New Look At Five

Madison is turning five years old in another week and as you know five is almost an adult (or what she likes to call a big person) by Madison’s standards. So with this new number my wife took her to get a trim as her hair in the front of her face was getting a little out of control. They both returned minus four inches of hair on the both of them(I liked it long)..It took a little time for Madison’s hair to grow on me as she had hair to the middle of her back but I like it now. The other big step was getting her ears pierced and she kept asking all day about getting it done. I was thinking to myself she has no earthly ideal what was involved with getting this done and how much of a surprise it would be when it happens as far as the “ouch factor”. The first photo is her sporting her new hair cut and the others are before, during, after the “ouch factor”..I sure wish I could keep her from growing up anymore then she already has and the only way to freeze it is with photography..I am glad I was there with the camera for this moment in her life..

The Wedding And Portrait Photography Website

With the holidays over and things getting back into the normal everyday routine I plan to finish the wedding and portrait website. I have had two possiable customers interested in me doing thier weddings but when they go to the website to check prices many of those fields are not ready and that is not very professional. I also have to put something together for my “about me” page which is a diffcult thing for me to write as I think it might be for most. This weekend I also spent some time getting some photos together to add to the site as one of the customers wanted to see more of a varity so I will be working on that as well..Here is another from Nina and Charlie’s engagement session which I kind of liked…

Wedding Dresses And A White Egret

With the sun out for the first time in many days I had the opportunity to test the new filter with the harsh sun light that was available today. I could not find a wedding bride in a white dress so I had to settle for a White Egret which is pretty close to the color and contrast I would have with a Bride in a white wedding dress. I shot a few without the filter and then shot with the filter and I saw a big difference in the sky (which I knew) and the color was not dulled due to the over powering sun.  I even adjusting for the 1/3 stop that is lost from the filter and I still saw a difference in the detail of the feathers from the bird. So now you may ask yourself why is this so important,,,There is nothing worse then a beautiful Bride in her wedding dress and the white wedding dress is blown out with no detail..Happy New Years everyone
