I have been very busy this week with the tornados in Suffolk and Driver Virginia. I knew four days before about the severe weather that was forecasted to hit on Monday but with most chasers the lack of heating and other elements and the price of gas put most on standby. I went to work Monday but by 11:00am I went home not feel well. I came home and kept an eye and around 3:00pm I saw isolated cells develop ahead of the main line of storms. The cells soon took on supercell forms with a least three moving into a warm and moist environment and not being effected by the main line of storms still to the west of Hampton Roads. I tracked the storms and started to call Jesse Bass( Storm Chasing Friend) to see if he was on top of it but after many calls and no answer I figured he was out chasing already. I got a call and at the other end was Jesse asking what was going on I was working out and I told him to get in position a supercell with a flying eagle was heading toward Suffolk, Virginia. A flying eagle is a supercell thunderstorm with a tornado that kind of looks like a flying eagle with sprawled out precipitation like the eagle’s wings in the opposite direction of a hook at the end looking like an eagle’s head where the tornado would be. I was able to help Jesse with some radar updates and helped put him in a good position and he was able to take some great footage of the tornado, his video was shown nationally on CBS,ABC,NBC,GMA,TWC,AP and some others. I would like to tell Jesse congrats and you did a great job getting ready on short notice and did a great job with the video in the heat of the moment, I hope I helped with the nowcasting. Oh, and one more thing Jesse, I really enjoyed the Ye HAAAA… You can check Jesse Bass’s video on his site at www.vastormphoto.com
