Virginia Beach Storms

The storms in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia last night were to say the least, most impressive. The lightning count per hour was off the charts and from what I heard and info I obtained the count was something like 2000 to 3000 strikes per hour. But even with so much lightning, storms of this magnitude are difficult to get decent photos of for many reasons. I also found out last night my favorite location ( HQ parking lot at Virginia Beach Blvd. and Independence Blvd. ) had repaired the parking lot lights which takes away any chance of shooting at this location in the future. It was good to get out there and shoot one of my favorite subjects even know I walked away with less then I would have liked too.

I am very excited and somewhat overwhelmed about my schedule for the next three months. I had kept June and July free to spend time with Madison and Amy ( my daughter and wife ) and we had a great time and got to do some things we have wanted to do with Madison. I look forward to using some of the new gear and getting back into the swing of things.

Here are a couple of mediocre shots from last nights storms. The first shot was less then 1/10th of a mile away.
