I had questioned myself if I wanted to post about losing my best friend, a wife and a wonderful mother to Madison (our little girl) on my wedding blog. Someone who has been in my life for so very long and we had just celebrated our 14th year wedding anniversary on February 1, 2012. Those who knew her knew how large her heart was and would do anything for anyone without question. She would never look for something in return, she was just like that and that was one of the many many things that I loved about her. I can tell you this, it has been very hard on me as I am sure it would with anyone else that lost a spouse or close love one and the road of healing for Madison and I is still a very long one ahead. There are so many things that most of us take advantage of and this sort of thing could happen to anyone at anytime and I was one of those people. I wish I could have another hug from her and not let go for a long time, a kiss that was more passionate, tell her how much I really still love her and how much she was a part of my life that I could not do without, not just the random words most of us say as we walk out the door to go to work like some of us do and never think that could be the last time you see or speak to one another. I could fill this blog up with so many special times we had together and shared together and how funny she was, she made everyone around smile and laugh out loud with some of the things she would say. Amy was 5′ nothing and I was 6’4″ and we did not look like a couple, but we were, and not a day will go by that I won’t think about her and remember all the good times we had and how much she loved Madison and I…. She was just one that was happy doing simple things together as a family.

There is such a long list of people to thank who were there in our time of need. I found it very important for me as well as Madison to be able to look back and document this sad day for many of my own personal reasons as well as her’s and without Eleise Theuer, Justin Hankins and especially David Schwartz Photography, without you guys and your amazing talents I would not have had these photographs, I owe you all a large debt of gratitude for doing this for our family.

Amy (Aim) we miss you, Madison and I always walk out the front door of the house kiss our hand and toss the kiss to the sky for you sweetheart…. We both love you and miss you a lot…

Hurricane Irene Virginia Beach, Virginia

We were lucky in the Hampton Roads area, hurricane Irene could have been far worse then it was. After my chase with the storm hurricane Isabel was much more destructive to our area and a large swath of the East Coast. Most of the time I like to be at land fall during a hurricane but since the eyewalls path was ploted over the area I live in, I made the choice to stay local and look over my family and property. I have posted a video that shows what I saw in my travels in Virginia Beach and Sandbridge area that took a big hit from a waterspout that came ashore and damged about five to six houses which is shown at the end of the video. It also has an interview with the man that lost his house from the damaging tornado/waterspout. I can tell you I will be cleaning sand out of my ears for a week or longer and if you stayed inside,, here is some footage of what you missed.

Mom’s and Dad’s…. Wow it seem like yesterday you guys ( Kelly and Andy ) were just getting married and now have a little boy. Both of you are going to be amazing parents and I am taking bets on how long it takes Andy to get him on a bike. Here are a couple of shots from the shoot. Nothing fancy here just basic window light without flash, white blanket and a reflector. The Tran Family

I was a little late on the posting of this session but one that I am very happy to show and share at the end of 2010 with the Tran family and friends. One of my first weddings, first maternity sessions and birthing sessions, I have been blest and granted with the special privilege of documenting some of the amazing highlights of the Tran’s family life. My wife and I have become very good friends with Linda, Thao and their beautiful daughter Taylor. We took the time and found a couple of spots around the Virginia Beach courthouse during one of the last warm days before the cold really set in. It took some time before Taylor got around to being herself but when she did I caught some of her funny faces that she likes to make. Here are a few of my favorites from the session..

Sarun And Shaun’s Engagements Virginia Beach

Sarun and Shaun didn’t need to much assistance in posing for the camera. Its great when you can tell a couple to pretend were ( the photographers ) not here and everything else falls into place. We took the tour of the beaches and a little urban area to tie together some amazing photos. Nyah their beautiful daughter reminded me very much of Madison when she is at the beach collecting shells and looking for little crabs. Here are a few of my favorites from the session. I look forward to Sept 25th in Richmond and I mean come on, how cool is this couple having a limo pick me up, drive me around all day, and then back home…!!!

Goodbye Landon James & Zoey Taylor

Tammy and James have been a very close client and not to mention close friends since the day that Tammy asked if I could retake her wedding portraits and fix the originals that were taken by another photographer. She has graced me with her beauty and kindness as a person and James is one of those guys that anyone can have a great time with as there is a funny, humorous side to him that I liked from the beginning. Both of them are great together and when Tammy told me she was pregnant I was very excited for the both of them. Tammy had big plans as far as photography with maternity shoots and even photography at the birth which I have done in the past before. But life and God always seems to have a plan of his own and Tammy gave birth to Landon James and Zoey Taylor at only 20 weeks. The twins only lived for a few hours and unfortunately James is in the Navy and could not get back in time to see them as he was in Ohio at the time. Tammy and James, both Amy and I would like to give our deepest sympathy too you and James as well as your family and this poem below means something to Amy and I for the loss that both of us have had in the past with love one’s that have past away and hope you find comfort in it.

A Different Twist On The Wedding Platform

There are not to many people I look up to and when I say that I mean height wise. For those who have met me I am pretty tall, stacking up about 6’6″. I stayed with my sister over the weekend in Ohio and her boyfriend Mark is close to 7′. So Saturday Mark asked me if I wanted to go to a wedding and I was like of course I want to go to a wedding but I did not fully understand what his purpose was at the wedding and assumed it was a friend and he was attending. I took my gear along as I always take it to weddings( ha ha ). When we went in we were directed to a room and Mark took a heavy load of something in a large case in with him. I did not ask about what it was and helped to get everything in that he needed to get to the location. As I came back to the room some time later I found about six guys undressing and gearing up in different Star Wars outfits. This turned out to be a surprise to me but a far better surprise to the wedding party and families that were attending the wedding rehearsal and had no clue that it was about to be crashed for fun. Mark belongs to an organization that does this sort of thing and all money and donations go to help children in different areas that have cancer and other illnesses which is very cool. So here I am helping Mark get in his Darth Vader outfit which I might add is very heavy with all the gear he wears. It was a hoot when they started to announce the wedding party with the song “The Imperial March” and six guys come out fully decked out in Star Wars outfits with laser guns and light sabers. Here is a shot of Mark with his outfit on.. Thanks Mark for taking me and it’s a very cool thing you guys do. I don’t think I will ever see something like that again..

Madison

Yesterday I had an event shoot ( big birthday party ) which I normally dont take on but this one slipped in on me. The event took place at Q-Masters off of Princess Anne Rd. I knew I would need to bring off camera lighting as many of these places are dimly lit which is always good practice for a wedding photographer but one he or she never likes. I walked towards the back where they had just opened a new section of pool tables and a whole new room in general. The place was so new the guy was just finishing up the painting of the walls. The new electric blue pool tables and dark walls really set off some of the photos I took. Here is a snap shot of Madison who is doing so well in school this year. I myself like this photo because those who have met her know this is just how she is. Blue cake icing below her mouth and half painted nails this is a good photo of her because she is so hard to shoot photos of and one of the hardest I have ever had with Mike King coming in a close second…J/K Mike. I will be leaving for Ohio and Mich. for an extended period of time where I will be meeting up with some local wedding photographers from the areas I will be at. One of my goals this year is to book some weddings in Ohio or join as a second shooter so I can take advantage of spending some time with my father who’s health is not very good. I guess I better pack a warm coat as I am sure I have forgotten what it is like there during the cold months.

Her father and I grew up together in Ohio and I still cannot believe that she is graduating in 2010 ( what happen to the time ). Laura plans on attending Regent University and I want to wish her the best of luck.

Amazing Wedding Albums By Pictobooks

I have been patiently waiting for about five to six weeks for a wedding album by a new company that I have decided to change too from my old one I was dealing with. I have talked with a couple of wedding photographers out of state from wedding forums about this company and the work they do and got a real positive vibe about the company so I tried Pictobooks. I received the wedding album Friday and was very excited to see the work the company is so talked about by other wedding photographers. My first impression was WOW the packing of this thing is very secure and safe and would lack any damaged cause by delivery companies in route to its location. After unwrapping the multi layers of packing I was in awe by the wooden cherry box they include with the larger wedding albums. I opened it finally after staring at the beautiful box and was equally impressed with the wedding album. After opening the wedding book I could tell this was not an assembly line type product, care had been taken by an individual to make sure every detail was taken care of for the customer as well as the wedding photographer. I have included a couple of snap shots of the product and would recommend this company to anyone looking for wedding albums that will impress your customers.
