I had questioned myself if I wanted to post about losing my best friend, a wife and a wonderful mother to Madison (our little girl) on my wedding blog. Someone who has been in my life for so very long and we had just celebrated our 14th year wedding anniversary on February 1, 2012. Those who knew her knew how large her heart was and would do anything for anyone without question. She would never look for something in return, she was just like that and that was one of the many many things that I loved about her. I can tell you this, it has been very hard on me as I am sure it would with anyone else that lost a spouse or close love one and the road of healing for Madison and I is still a very long one ahead. There are so many things that most of us take advantage of and this sort of thing could happen to anyone at anytime and I was one of those people. I wish I could have another hug from her and not let go for a long time, a kiss that was more passionate, tell her how much I really still love her and how much she was a part of my life that I could not do without, not just the random words most of us say as we walk out the door to go to work like some of us do and never think that could be the last time you see or speak to one another. I could fill this blog up with so many special times we had together and shared together and how funny she was, she made everyone around smile and laugh out loud with some of the things she would say. Amy was 5′ nothing and I was 6’4″ and we did not look like a couple, but we were, and not a day will go by that I won’t think about her and remember all the good times we had and how much she loved Madison and I…. She was just one that was happy doing simple things together as a family.

There is such a long list of people to thank who were there in our time of need. I found it very important for me as well as Madison to be able to look back and document this sad day for many of my own personal reasons as well as her’s and without Eleise Theuer, Justin Hankins and especially David Schwartz Photography, without you guys and your amazing talents I would not have had these photographs, I owe you all a large debt of gratitude for doing this for our family.

Amy (Aim) we miss you, Madison and I always walk out the front door of the house kiss our hand and toss the kiss to the sky for you sweetheart…. We both love you and miss you a lot…

Caitlyn & Hunter’s | Engagements | Virginia Beach

First off I knew Caitlyn and Hunter would be so much fun to work with just by the conversations we have had on the phone about the session and I was right. Christine + Michael: Married! | The Signature at West Neck

When we first met Christine and Michael earlier this year, we liked them instantly. Warm and genuine, interesting and down-to-earth and funny!! So we looked forward to their wedding day at The Signature at West Neck even know the rain was upon us and had been for the last four days before the wedding. Oh my gosh… I cannot even find words to describe how fun it was working with these two. Both really know how to make each other smile and laugh and Vertqunese responded to (the comedian) Christopher with some uncontrollable laughter. Both want to shoot in engagements in Portsmouth, Virginia where the marriage proposal took place and a special place for them. I wish both the very best together and a beautiful wedding in LA in 2012…

Hurricane Irene Virginia Beach, Virginia

We were lucky in the Hampton Roads area, hurricane Irene could have been far worse then it was. After my chase with the storm hurricane Isabel was much more destructive to our area and a large swath of the East Coast. Most of the time I like to be at land fall during a hurricane but since the eyewalls path was ploted over the area I live in, I made the choice to stay local and look over my family and property. I have posted a video that shows what I saw in my travels in Virginia Beach and Sandbridge area that took a big hit from a waterspout that came ashore and damged about five to six houses which is shown at the end of the video. It also has an interview with the man that lost his house from the damaging tornado/waterspout. I can tell you I will be cleaning sand out of my ears for a week or longer and if you stayed inside,, here is some footage of what you missed.

Christine & Michael Engagements Maymont Park Richmond, Virginia

I absolutely loved photographing Christine and Michael’s engagement session at Maymont Park Richmond, Virginia last weekend. It was a hot day but both were troopers and we had a blast exploring the areas of the park! This was the third time I have shot at this location and it definitely didn’t disappoint and still have not seen all of the park yet. Christine and Michael had suggested it as a location and I was all for it, she said it was the perfect location because it blended with what the both were looking for.

Christine and Michael are getting married this September and I can’t wait for their wedding and at one of my favorite venues as well! Here are just a few of my favorites from our engagement shoot at Maymont Park Richmond, Virginia.

Rochelle + Leonard {Married}

This was a gorgeous event, held at one of our favorite Norfolk venues, the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center. Rochelle and Leonard were all smiles (and some tears of happiness) as they tied the knot in front of their friends and family at the St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Anyone that knows these two will tell you how warm and genuine Rochelle and Leonard are to anyone they meet. And they’re SO much fun to be around and SO much fun in front of the camera! Congrats Rochelle and Leonard!

Lightning Virginia Beach Town Center July 23, 2011

I love a good storm, my love for photography started out with shooting photos of lightning. Last year and for the most part of this year have not yielded any good weather photos. I was very happy to walk away with some keepers last night and a photo which shows two step leaders coming off the top of The Westin which appears to be at least 100 feet high and a smaller one coming off the second largest building which is smaller but still visible. Jiselle And Nick’s Wedding Day Yorktown Virginia

I enjoyed being around Jiselle and Nick during their engagements and the wedding was no different, what a fun and loving couple and it’s obvious how much they care for each other just by watching their stolen glances, quick kisses, and private conversations. The wedding took off without delay on the beach in Yorktown, Virginia early Saturday morning. The reception took place at the Historic Powhatan Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia. I am still moved by Nick’s brothers speech as I am sure the whole room was, very heartfelt and sincere. Here are a few photos I liked from the day..
