I love getting to travel for engagement sessions and weddings, there’s something fun and adventurous about getting to see a place I’ve never been to and document a cool couples life together. Richmond, Virginia has been and will be again on the list of great places to shoot this year as it was for this shoot. This time besides going to Shockoe Bottom I made it to Maymont Park in Richmond, Virginia and I have to say I like shooting here way more the NBG. I mean a great location with a very funny couple equals easy work and amazing photos. Rochelle you’re going to be a beautiful bride and Leonard I hope you make me laugh as much as you did on the engagement shoot my friend… See you guys in July!!!!
Saturdays weather was perfect at Shockoe Bottom in Richmond Virginia for an e-session with Jiselle and Nick. This was the first time I had shot at this location and it’s an endless playground of angles, colors and texture for a photographer to use and I like that. I have been lucky enough to get to know Jiselle and Nick a bit more during the session and what a fun and really down to earth couple who had no problem showing affection with one another. Thanks Jiselle and Nick for making it easy to snap the shutter and also for that very tasty pizza place we ate at which I am sure I will be visiting again soon…

Just a short post with some fun photos from the 2011 DockDog contest. This weekend is one of my last free weekends for a long time with this years wedding business in full swing, next weekend till the end of November. I will be very busy with my best year so far since I started the business and I have some amazing brides and grooms to show off and cant wait.. I took Madison out for some fun with some high and long jumping dogs (22 feet across the pool). I have posted a few photos from todays enjoyment and with one soaked little girl and some record setting dogs from the DockDog contest I had a ton of fun..

Yesterdays outbreak was historical and one for the records. I got a nasty message from someone that said storm chasers are sick. This is funny because storm chasers save lives by confirming ground truth of severe weather and tornadoes and although I have a love for this type of weather all of us (storm chasers) don’t wish and don’t want death and destruction. Chasing these type of storms are far more risky then the storms on the Plains. Virginia and North Carolina is nothing less then a forest of pine trees with no visibility. Jesse and I did a pretty good job with lack of site, storms moving at 55-65mph and using an Iphone 4 and a map. I have to thank Dan Robinson and Doug K for keeping us on track and confirming our target spots for each tornado we caught. I will say this, I have been pretty close to some crazy weather stuff but the Raleigh, NC rain wrapped tornado was very touch and go and had both Jesse and I on edge at the location we were at. No more then 400 yards from where we were had cars flipped and heavy damage to buildings.

Mom’s and Dad’s…. Wow it seem like yesterday you guys ( Kelly and Andy ) were just getting married and now have a little boy. Both of you are going to be amazing parents and I am taking bets on how long it takes Andy to get him on a bike. Here are a couple of shots from the shoot. Nothing fancy here just basic window light without flash, white blanket and a reflector. Kelly and Andy I am very happy for the both of you and look forward to seeing him in my camera lens again soon…
